About Us

Black Chair is Matt Poirier and Dave Noël. We're two young, creative professionals seeking to design and build your web and print solutions. Our backgrounds range from informal late night jam sessions with online tutorials to university level courses and hands-on experience in institutional settings. We first met while developing a distance learning course as employees of the Canadian government. Our complimentary skill sets and entrepreneurial spirit eventually gave birth to Black Chair Studios.

We want to develop your creative vision, whether that is a simple business card design or a full-fledged interactive web application or any small step in between. We'd love to chat with you about every detail, so please contact us to set up a meeting or to find out more about us.

Biographies

Matt is 23, and he's been playing with HTML since he was at least 10 years old. He has a BA in linguistics from the University of Winnipeg with a minor in computer science. He has an interest in scripting, both server-side and client-side, and got swept up by the big web two-point-oh bug of the 21st century. He can be somewhat obsessive at times, and this translates into an eye for detail and a love for clean, standards based development.

At only 20 years, Dave has been doing freelance graphic art and web design for almost half his life. His unique blend of the creative and the logical are evident in the elegant simplicity of his work. Keen on the magic of shape and colour, Dave is also an amateur writer and musician (on top of his Electrical Engineering studies at the University of Manitoba).
